Tweek Resigns
January 14, 2007
Ah, more fallout from the Wolfie resignation. DRCL Tweek resigned yesterday. Albiet, he left more gracefully then Wolfie, but it’s still sad to see him go. At least he isn’t going to be leaving.
I attended a rountable in Thend’s Bevin yesterday and we came to pretty much a consensus that the Liaisons might need to be put on hiatus for a while. People have been saying that the Liaison job was needed when the Restoration was still sluggish, but that it isn’t needed now that the Restoration is in full swing.
On a lighter note, I will be attending the UO Blue party this afternoon.
More Wolfie Controversy
January 13, 2007
Well, I came across Wolfie’s leaving post and… well… it was flaming hotter than the Babylonian furnace.
There’s been alot of debate about whether Prof. Askew should be in this position at all. Zardoz brought up the Liaison constitution and said that there is no provision for the apointment of Askew by the existing Liaisons. Though it’s fine with me if Askew stays, he’s right. It’s a firm legal statement, though there are some holes that should be covered up.
All this has made me think about if I should run for Liaison if there is an election. I think I will, though I will have to toughen my skin and be on my guard.
CAGreyWolf stepping down and the Palace Alcove opened
January 13, 2007
Well there was a bit of a bombshell today when CAGreyWolf stepped down from his DRC Liaison position. He said he was fed up with how people were treating him. For now, the 6th place runner up from the last two elections (Proffesor Askew) has been apointed Temporary DRCL until we can get another election.
I think I may put my name forward for DRCL. With the six month term my term will end before I leave for Africa, and this is a way I can help others.
Anyway, there is more news. The Palace Alcove was opened today. I had already been over there (the barriers were easy to jump), but now I can register at the Nexus because before the link was bugged.
Concert Hall Opened, and a little more from Cate
January 11, 2007
The Concert Hall Foyer opened today. When they get that bridge back up it will open up the courtyard of the Great Library to us. I still haven’t been able to make it to the Cavern to see, but I’m planning on a Link tonight. The City is reopening faster than I expected. Yesterday the Docks and now the Concert Hall Foyer.
Also, some info was leaked by te Liasons that Cate told them not to log their meetings with her anymore. She wants a “Cavern First” policy where the DRCLs go and distribute it to people in Ae’Gura itself first. Then it eventually filters down to the forums. I don’t like this because we’ll lose accuracy. We have no absolute knowledge we’re getting everything, or that things aren’t being added in. Renoah said it best when she said that she has no problem with this method of dispersal as long as the chatlogs are available for the people who want to read them.
I’ve been thinking, and next time I see Laxman I’ll ask if I can talk to him. He has no love for Cate, and he controls the KI lattice. He could probably implant some bug in Cate’s KI so that it would relay everything it picked up to his KI, or exploit the public/private bug problems the Lattice is having right now so that we can sneak in and listen.
Anyway, I’ll have to wait until later to get to Ae’Gura. I won’t have to pack, but Mom and Dad insist I take some supplies with me. What if I lose my Relto book?
Cate the Slavedriver
January 10, 2007
Ok, so we did hear something from the DRC yesterday. Laxman linked in and asked people in Ae’Gura about how the Nexus terminals were working, and then Cate linked in. And here’s where it gets interesting:
So Laxman inspects the terminals and such, and then Cate links in and Laxman makes a hurried exist, almost like he was running from Cate. So Cate comes up to the same group of people (or so it seems from KIshots) and asks them how long Laxman was there and blah blah blah. Then she says:
“Consider this a warning – I don’t expect us to open the Great Zero on time.”
She seemed quite annoyed with Laxman and said that she needed to talk to him about not meeting her deadline for the Great Zero opening. Laxman seemed positively terrified of Cate. Why else would he run away like that? Whatever the reasons, I feel sorry for the DRC. If this is how she treats them infront of explorers, then I shiver to think how she treats them in the DRC’s meeting rooms.
Also, Thanakar took two chat logs, one from the DRCL Bevin and one from her opening speech to us. In the DRCL chatlog she confirmed she was a member of the DRC, but in the meeting she said she was just a funder, not an actual member of Council.
So there’s a debate whether she is the prophesied Destroyer or if she is just a high matabolism personality and control freak. I really don’t know yet.
Anyway, the DRC is making some progress after the silence. They opened the “Private Rooms” (egg rooms). Will the Bahro place their Linking Stones in there like before the Scream?
A Silent DRC
January 9, 2007
So we’ve had no word from the DRC in days. Nothing. Nada. Zip.
I know it’s only been a few days, and that I should be worried if it happened for months. I just hope their spending their time working on the new Age to be released and the Great Zero. All I’ve had time to do is jump along the islands of my Relto. I was able to get to the Spiral Island today. Nothing there except a great view.
Yeesha’s been awefully quiet too. I had expected to hear something from her after the Scream, but nothing has been coming from her. Is she on Releeshahn? Is she on Myst? On her own little Relto planning our defenses? If the Destroyer is coming, we need to be prepared, and I don’t see how we can do that if our leaders hole themselves away.
Land Ahoy! The Islands page
January 6, 2007
Yeesha gave us a late New Years present with the Islands page. I had thought the 5th was a slow day, but I checked back on UO this morning and found in the Cavern Today section that the Islands page was there. It wasn’t at my hood anymore (UO Hood), so I had to hood hop. Thankfully I only had to visit one hood. I love that page.
I wonder what else Yeesha has planned for us… what will the new Age the DRC is promising-which could come any time after today really- be? Will it be the beginning of a new Journey?
The Canyon and the Courtyard opened today. It was quite something to see explorers hanging over the balcony as Ashelbane took a picture, which I must remember to ask him for. Tay would love that for the ULYB.
Also, I managed to sneak away to Relto and into D’ni for the meeting with Mrs. Alexander. It was quite interesting, though there were some things that unsettled me. First off she said that she “has a lot of clout” with the DRC having invested alot of money in it. Also, the DRCLs released a chatlog of a meeting with her. It sounds like she is thinking of convinceing the DRC to do away with the DRC Liason position!
Happy New Year
January 2, 2007
Wow I need to get back here more often…
I rang in 2007 on the Surface. Natalia’s mom was getting remarried, and I promised to help her out. I heard that the neighbourhoods were chock full yesterday. Maybe next year.
Oh yeah, no link next year.
*sigh* I keep getting depressed about no Cavern access for a whole year. I shouldn’t be; I’m going on the trip of a lifetime, and I am not going to be doubling back between Tunis and Relto for a whole year. But right now I should live in the moment a little more. I have over 6 months of access to D’ni left, so I might as well make the most of it. Then there are the countless websites I can stay in touch with; the school has computers (albeit they’re Macs) and I’ll have my own laptop (Windows thank goodness).
I think I’ll plan a little expedition in June or July. I’ll go see the Ages again. It’ll be nice to see them before I leave.
Also, I found out (in the most unpleasent fashion) that I might be allergic to Advil, at least, that cold and sinus stuff. That means I can’t use it when I go to Teledahn to keep myself from sneezing myself to kingdom come because of all those spores.
An Open Cavern
December 21, 2006
Wow.
I have been too busy to get to this blog lately, but what a week this has been.
The DRC was holding a meeting on Tuesday (the 19th) and Kodama was talking and then all the KIs started going crazy, and then a really, really long Bahro screech was heard and people linked en massé to Relto. I wasn’t there that day, but from what I hear it was quite amazing. I got down into the Cavern the next day. The DRC had barricaded EVERYTHING. The Auditorium is now closed off, and the imagers and telescopes are gone. The City is as closed as usual, but Kodama said there were some cracks.
The DRC seems to be in crisis mode right now. BrettM thinks that they barricaded the auditorium because someone recorded something over Watson’s welcome message; something that the DRC doesn’t want us to hear. Alot of people also think that the DRC took out the telescopes so we can’t see what they’re doing in Ae’Gura.
Many of us Explorers gathered on the Great Stairs in Ae’Gura this morning to discuss this turn of events. Alot are wary of the DRC, but also wary of Yeesha.
Honestly, I don’t know what to think of the DRC and Yeesha. Some people seem set in their ways; presumably due to previous experience with the DRC, but I don’t know how they operate, so I resolve to stay neutral until, well, I don’t know.
This whole thing is a big “I don’t know”.
I was in Kadish Tolesa with Vormaen, Mar’i, and a bunch of others. When we were just passed the Moon Room, near the area where you see the trees and clouds, Vormaen and I heard what sounded like a young child crying “NO NO NO!”.
We have both spent alot of time in Kadish, but neither of us had ever heard it.
Visit the Cavern
December 4, 2006
The DRC announced that explorers that are going around the Cavern making sure everything is ok for the DRC can now tell us what the DRC is doing, but unfortuneately they can’t say what they did. Those pictures that the DRC released of Eders Delin and Tsogal have made me very curious about those two Ages.
Well, at least I’ll be in the Cavern by the end of the month…
